The Privileges of Being in the Family

The Privileges of Being in the Family

READ: Ephesians 1:7-12

Ephesians 1:7-12 (KJV)
7  In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
8  Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
9  Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
10  That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
11  In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
12  That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

KEY THOUGHT:

Belonging to a family gives you certain privileges that non-family members don’t have. For example, as a member of your earthly family, you probably have the privilege to sit at the dinner table for evening meals. Likewise, being a member of God’s family has special privileges, starting with the privilege to have everlasting life through Jesus.

CONSIDER:

  1. What are some of the privileges you receive by being part of your earthly family?
  2. Do you consider your family privileges as blessings? Why or why not?
  3. How have you been privileged to be part of God’s family?

APPLICATION:

Recognize the privileges of being a member of God’s family and count those privileges as blessings.
