Walk in Submission

Walk in Submission

READ: Ephesians 5:18-21

Ephesians 5:18-21 (KJV)
18  And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
19  Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
20  Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
21  Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

KEY THOUGHT:

We all like to be in charge—especially when it comes to running our own life. We think that being in charge of our life brings us freedom. But wisdom shows that true freedom comes through submission to God and to those He places in authority over us. When we fail to submit, we become captive to our own selfishness and we lose the freedom we want so much. True freedom comes when we walk in submission to Christ and to His will.

CONSIDER:

  1. What does being filled with the Spirit mean to you?
  2. How does being thankful represent submission to God?
  3. What can you do to demonstrate your personal submission to God and to others?

APPLICATION:

Experience the freedom of walking in submission to Jesus Christ.
