The Beginning, End and Fullness of Joy

The Beginning, End and Fullness of Joy

READ: 1 John 1:1-4

1 John 1:1-4 (KJV)
1  That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
2  (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
3  That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
4  And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.

KEY THOUGHT:

Where does joy come from? You might look for joy in many places and just when you think you find it, you realize that joy is still out of reach. The apostle John writes that the source of joy can be found because it always existed: it begins and end with Jesus Christ. Jesus is the living Word of God. Through Him, you can experience all that He offers through the Word and through personal fellowship with Him. Joy comes from knowing Jesus and fellowshipping with Him daily through His Word. That’s why daily devotional quiet time is so important. It’s a step that helps you grow into a deeper relationship with the one who is the only real source of joy – Jesus Christ.

CONSIDER:

  1. Why is genuine joy so hard to find and keep?
  2. How does Jesus bring you joy and fulfillment?
  3. Is it possible to have a life full of joy without Jesus? Why or why not?

APPLICATION:

Experience the fullness of joy that comes through a relationship with Jesus Christ!
