READ: Philippians 3:17-19

Philippians 3:17-19 (KJV)
17  Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
18  (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
19  Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

KEY THOUGHT:

Growth is driven by learning and changing your behavior. Learning is usually accomplished through examples – following the demonstrated behavior of others. Following the wrong example can be disastrous, especially for a new Christian. Even established Christians sometimes can be led astray by bad examples. Your behavior as a Christian will mimic the examples you follow. That’s why it’s important to have a known good example to follow. The first good example is Jesus Christ. He’s the ideal role model. His example is found in His Word and through a close relationship with Him. Additionally, you can choose godly Christian examples that help drive you to be more like Christ.

CONSIDER:

  1. Who are some of the examples you follow?
  2. What are some of the dangers associated with following a bad example?
  3. Why are friends sometimes not the best example to follow?
  4. How can you be sure that you are a good example to others?

APPLICATION:

Choose your examples well and let them drive you to be more like Christ!
