How BIG is Your God?

How BIG is Your God?

READ: Ephesians 1:15-23

Ephesians 1:15-23 (KJV)
15  Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,
16  Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
17  That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18  The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19  And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20  Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
21  Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
22  And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
23  Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

KEY THOUGHT:

Have you ever really thought about how great truly God is? Sure, we can think of it in song titles: He’s an awesome God! My God is so big! He’s mighty to save! And His love is so deep and wide! But, let’s get really personal here, and ask the really deep question—how BIG is GOD to YOU? When God’s greatness becomes real to a Christian, then His power is revealed and great things can be accomplished by God through that Christian. As Paul wrote in verse 18, we should ask God to open the eyes of our understanding , so that we can realize His will and experience His great and awesome power in our lives. When we have God’s vision, we will see His greatness and have a better understanding of the rich inheritance we have through His grace. Then, we will see a BIG GOD in all His glory and might. So, how BIG is GOD to YOU?

CONSIDER:

  1. What are some of the things that you expect God to do in your life? Are those expectations realistic?
  2. How would you classify your vision of God in your life: 20/20, far-sighted, or near-sighted?
  3. What are some ways that God’s greatness is real to you?

APPLICATION:

Focus on the greatness of God and His mighty power!
