Stay True to the Truth (1 Timothy 1:1-4)

READ: 1 Timothy 1:1-4

1 Timothy 1:1-4 (KJV)
1  Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;
2  Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.
3  As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
4  Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.

KEY THOUGHT:

Being true to the Truth means that you recognize that God’s Word is the source of all Truth and it can be trusted. Today, more than ever, the world is trying to redefine the truth. This manner of thinking also has crept into the church and into many Christian’s lives. As a result, we find many Christians living and thinking more like the world than like Christ. That’s why many Christians feel overwhelmed and weighed down. How about you? Has the Truth set you free? Are you living in a way that others see the Truth in you?

CONSIDER:

  1. What are some ways that truth is being redefined today?
  2. What are some of the dangers of straying away from the true doctrine (teaching) of God’s Word?
  3. How can you be certain that what you believe and live by is the truth?

APPLICATION:

Trust the Truth of God’s Word and keep it as it is!
