Stay True to Mercy (1 Timothy 1:16-17)

READ: 1 Timothy 1:16-17

1 Timothy 1:16-17 (KJV)
16  Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
17  Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

KEY THOUGHT:

Staying true to mercy means that you never forget what God did for you by not only forgiving your sins, but also forgetting those sins. It also means that you realize that God’s mercy is an example for you to live by and demonstrate to others. God’s mercy is evident in His removal of your sin guilt, His forgiveness, and His lovingkindness extended to you every day. Likewise, you can be a living testimony of God’s grace and mercy when you act graciously and mercifully to those God brings your way.

CONSIDER:

  1. In what ways can you be a conduit of God’s mercy to others?
  2. How does remembering God’s mercy toward you help you be merciful to others?
  3. Describe how God demonstrates His mercy to you.

APPLICATION:

Let God’s mercy flow through you to others as a reflection of His love.
