A Focused Response (2 Timothy 4:9-10)

A Focused Response (2 Timothy 4:9-10)

READ: 2 Timothy 4:9-10

2 Timothy 4:9-10 (KJV)
9  Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me:
10  For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.

KEY THOUGHT:

There are times when a sense of urgency is needed – times when a focused response to a situation is required. Because he sensed his opportunities to minister the gospel were coming to an end, the apostle Paul had a sense of urgency to finish his course. He summoned Timothy to be diligent and to quickly come to him. Paul was at a point in his life where he needed close Christian companionship to help him wrap things up. His previous companions had either left him or they were off doing their own ministry. At this point, Paul’s imprisonment created a need for someone close to minister to him and with him – so he beckoned Timothy to come.

Everyone needs someone sometime. When that time comes, a focused response must be made to satisfy the needs of the one who calls. Paul gave his all for the cause of Christ. When he called, he needed a focused response from Timothy. What about you? When you are called to minister to someone in need, will you be diligent to respond?

CONSIDER:

  1. How would you describe your availability to meet other Christians’ needs?
  2. If you were called to go to someone’s side to help, how would you respond?
  3. Why is Christian fellowship important when people are in need?

APPLICATION:

Be faithful to respond quickly when called!
