A Fellow Helper (1 Thessalonians 3:1-5)

A Fellow Helper (1 Thessalonians 3:1-5)

READ: 1 Thessalonians 3:1-5

1 Thessalonians 3:1-5 (KJV)
1  Wherefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left at Athens alone;
2  And sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister of God, and our fellowlabourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith:
3  That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto.
4  For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know.
5  For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.

KEY THOUGHT:

It’s unlikely that anyone would deny that going through difficult times is a challenge. It’s even more challenging if you think that you’re alone during those troubling times, especially when they involve affliction, discouragement and suffering. God never intended for you to go through those times alone. Like Paul sent Timothy to be a fellow laborer to the Thessalonians, You can believe that He will send a help your way. Even more, you can trust the words of Jesus when He says that He will never leave you or forsake you (Hebrews 13:5) and that He is with you always even to the end (Matthew 28:20).

CONSIDER:

  1. Who has been an encouragement to you during a difficult time? How did they encourage you?
  2. How do you feel when you are afflicted or when you are facing a difficult challenge?
  3. How does faith help you to know that you’re not alone when you’re going through a trial?

APPLICATION:

Be encouraged by the help God brings your way.
