READ: 2 Peter 1:19-21
19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
KEY THOUGHT:
Knowing Jesus as Savior and being able to defend your faith in Him is a great truth. But there’s even Truth that is surer than that. It’s the truth that’s contained in all of Scripture – the place where you will find assurance of all that God promises. That’s why it’s so important for you to know God’s Word, remember it, and live it daily. It is the sure word of Truth that has no equal. It says what it means and it means what it says. Man may try to change it, but God’s Word is unchangeable and will last for all eternity. When you know the Truth, it sets you free. When you live the Truth, it brings you abundant joy and peace. You can be certain that what you learn and live from the Bible is Truth – pure, uncompromised and undeniable Truth.
CONSIDER:
- How do you know that what you read in the Bible is true?
- Why did God give you His Word?
- If someone tries to interpret the Bible in such a way as to twist the Truth, how should you respond?
- Would you be able to tell if someone was trying to teach something contrary to the Bible? How can you better recognize when that happens?
APPLICATION:
Know the Truth and believe the Truth that’s found in God’s Word!
