READ: 2 Timothy 1:6-10
6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:
KEY THOUGHT:
Jesus commanded His followers, which includes you as a Christian, to be witnesses. This involves giving testimony of Christ and what He’s done for you. Sometimes that can be difficult especially when there is so much opposition in the world to the message of Christ. Even when difficult, you can be a good witness for Christ if you have a grounded testimony. That means that you know the gospel and you have a clear message of how you received it and its impact on your life. A grounded gospel testimony has power that can overcome your fear and can give you boldness even in the most challenging circumstances. After all, the gospel had power to save you from your sin and call you to the witness stand for Christ!
CONSIDER:
- Why is it important to have a solid testimony of your salvation experience?
- Describe how you trusted Christ as your Savior and how He changed your life.
- How has the testimony of others impacted you?
APPLICATION:
Be prepared to witness of Christ to others by having a grounded testimony.
