READ: Titus 2:13-15
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
KEY THOUGHT:
You can tell a lot from a person’s look as well as from what they’re looking for. Have you ever seen anyone that has a look of despair? The pain and sadness is evident. It’s clear that they are looking forward to something undesirable. Likewise, a person with hope has a look that conveys optimism and anticipation of something great. That should be the look of a Christian in anticipation and hope of the return of Jesus Christ.
As a Christian, you have no reason to have a look of despair or depression. As you look forward to seeing Jesus, you should have a look that expresses the joy that only He can bring. It should be a look that creates curiosity in those you encounter, giving opportunity for you to speak about your hope and anticipation.
When you keep the look of hope, you can share with others the basis for your hope – how Jesus gave His life to save you and redeem you so that you could be part of His Kingdom… and, you’ll be seeing Him again! Now, that’s a reason for Hope.
CONSIDER:
- How does a person’s hope change their countenance?
- Why is it important for you to have a look of hope as you anticipate Christ’s return?
- How can you better display your hope in Christ to others, especially in a world filled with so much despair and depression?
APPLICATION:
Let your hope in Jesus Christ be on display to the world!
