READ: 1 John 4:12-16
12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
KEY THOUGHT:
How much do you think about your home as your dwelling place? Having a home is something often taken for granted. But not everyone has a place that they can call home, which makes having a personal dwelling place a special thing. As special as it may be, even the best earthly dwelling place is a temporary thing. God provides you with an opportunity to have a permanent dwelling place with Him. When you trust in His plan of Salvation, He gives you a permanent home in Heaven to abide with Him. To get such a precious dwelling place is a gift of God. It is given through Jesus Christ and is received by confessing that Jesus is God’s Son and your Savior. When that happens, you not only get a new dwelling place with God, but God makes you a dwelling place for His Spirit. Salvation is a personal thing. It’s between you and God, through His Son and with His Spirit. Through this personal relationship, you dwell with God and His Spirit dwells with you.
CONSIDER:
- If Jesus died for the sins of the world, why is salvation so personal?
- How can you be sure that you have a permanent dwelling place in Heaven?
- How often do you thank God for the dwelling place He provides for you?
APPLICATION:
Ensure that you dwell in God and that God dwells in you through His Son and His Spirit!
