READ: 1 Peter 1:10-12
10 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
KEY THOUGHT:
The Bible is filled with promises from God. And the great thing about God’s promises is that they are always honored – God won’t break His promises! One of those great promises is the promise of salvation through Jesus Christ, God’s only Son. The promise of salvation was foretold from the very start. When God spoke to Adam, Eve and the serpent in Eden, He foretold His plan of salvation. It was then foretold in imagery, in the words of prophets and by heavenly communication. When Christ came from Heaven to Earth was the promise realized – when God’s Son took the form of man and became the perfect sacrifice that paid the price of redemption for those who believe on Him – on Jesus Christ. To this day, the promise is still available through the Word of God and the leading of the Holy Spirit. God has kept His promise of salvation and by faith, you can claim it!
CONSIDER:
- Why is the promise of salvation important to you?
- How did God fulfill His promise of salvation?
- Describe how you received the promise of salvation from God. How do you know that God has kept His promise?
APPLICATION:
Claim the promise of salvation found only in Jesus Christ.
