READ: 1 Peter 1:22-25
22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
KEY THOUGHT:
God’s Word is pure and eternal. His plan of salvation is perfect. His redemption is sufficient for all time because it was provided with an incorruptible, undefiled, spotless and perfect sacrifice. Everything God does for you is pure and holy. He is now calling you to purity in heart, soul and mind. To be pure and holy for God, you must desire it. You’re desire for purity is manifested when you call upon God to make you holy through the cleansing blood of Jesus Christ. He who calls you to purity is faithful to do it. Just as the popular worship song lyrics say, “give us clean hands, give us pure hearts,” the pursuit of purity is a daily prayer to God asking for His help to have a purified heart.
CONSIDER:
- What are some things that bring impurities in your life?
- How can controlling those things help you to have a pure heart and mind?
- Why is it important to call upon God to help you purify your heart?
- Make a prayer list that includes things that you will ask God to help remove from your life so that you can have a pure heart.
APPLICATION:
Call upon God to help purify your heart.
