READ: 1 John 2:3-6
3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
KEY THOUGHT:
How do people know that you are a Christian? Is it because you tell them that you are a Christian or because the recognize you as a Christian by the way you live? The apostle John makes it clear that being a Christian means that you will be recognized by your actions. You will be obedient to the things Jesus commanded. This is so important that Jesus spoke these words: “If ye love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15). When you know Jesus as Savior and you have a personal relationship with Him, you will want to follow Him, do the things He says, and be recognized as His follower. Your walk will be His and not the world’s.
Walking like Jesus is quite different than walking like the world. It means that you will lose yourself for Him. You won’t be selfish; you will be selfless. You will care for others before yourself. Your message will be His message. Your steps will be ordered by Him, guided by the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. Are you recognizable as a Christian by your walk?

- If you were to grade your daily routines compared to how Jesus walked, would you pass or fail? Why?
- What can help you walk as Jesus walked?
