READ: 2 Thessalonians 3:1-2
1 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:
2 And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.
KEY THOUGHT:
The apostle Paul was not shy when it came to the topic of prayer. He instructed believers to pray for him specifically, to pray for each other, to pray always, and to pray without ceasing. His message to the Thessalonians was similar, to pray for him and his fellow laborers that they may accomplish the work that God gave them to do.
Praying for others who work in the ministry is vital. When you pray, you join a chorus of saints seeking God’s intervention for others as they serve for Christ in the battle for souls. What should you pray for? Think of what Paul asked: 1) that the Word of God may be freely spread; that God would be glorified by the preaching of His Word; and that those who carry the Word would be kept safe and be delivered from those who oppose them. Praying is a daily and unceasing responsibility of your role in support of the ministry.
CONSIDER:
- How can you pray specifically for others in the ministry?
- Think of at least three people you can pray for this week. What will you pray about for each person?
- Describe how God has answered prayers for others in the past. How does this help increase your faith?
APPLICATION:
Be persistent in your prayers for others, especially those who endeavor to serve the Lord in full time Christian service.
