Be a Purposeful Follower (2 Thessalonians 3:6-9)

READ: 2 Thessalonians 3:6-9

2 Thessalonians 3:6-9 (KJV)
6  Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.
7  For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;
8  Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:
9  Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.

KEY THOUGHT:

In the days of the early church, the apostle Paul was an example for believers to follow. Church leaders who followed Paul’s example later became examples for others. Today, the church needs believers who purposefully follow leaders who live as faithful examples according to the Word of God, so that other believers can become examples for future generations. You may not think of yourself as an example, but it’s quite likely that there are new believers looking at you and your Christian testimony. Are you purposefully following a good example like Paul so that you can be an example to others?

CONSIDER:

  1. Who is an example that you follow as a Christian?
  2. How can you be an example to others?
  3. Why is being an example to others important to church growth?

APPLICATION:

Follow godly leadership with a purpose to be an example for others.
