READ: 2 Peter 3:17-18
17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
KEY THOUGHT:
God’s message contains truth. Truth brings you knowledge of God’s will. That knowledge prevents ignorance and helps you to stand fast in the grace of God. But it doesn’t end there. The apostle Peter instructs that you are to grow in grace and in knowledge – specifically the knowledge of Jesus Christ. Growing in grace is the result of better understanding the Savior and His Lordship by bringing every aspect of your life to Him in submission and obedience to the truth (2 Corinthians 10:5). Growing in grace brings you better awareness of God’s provision of grace, the sufficiency of it, and the glory God receives because of it (2 Corinthians 12:9-10). Be strong in the Lord, by growing in His grace and knowledge!
CONSIDER:
- How does God’s grace appear to you?
- How does knowing Jesus better help you to grow in grace?
- What are some ways that you can get to know Jesus better on a daily basis?
APPLICATION:
Grow in grace by knowing Jesus Christ better every day.
