Be Patient While You Wait (2 Thessalonians 3:3-5)

READ: 2 Thessalonians 3:3-5

2 Thessalonians 3:3-5 (KJV)
3  But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
4  And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you.
5  And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.

KEY THOUGHT:

What do you do while you’re waiting for someone or something? Are you engaged in profitable activity or does anxiety steal your time and energy? Or do you take matters into your own hands and do what you think will bring the matter to pass? Paul encouraged the Thessalonians to be patient as the waited for the return of Christ, all the while following the direction God had for them. No matter how difficult it may be to wait on someone or something, you must wait patiently and stay focused on God’s will, understanding that He works according to His own timetable, which is always perfect! You can patiently wait for God to accomplish the work He has started in your life and in accordance with His perfect will, including waiting for the return of His Son!

CONSIDER:

  1. What is patience an important part of waiting for anything?
  2. How can being impatient cause you to be distracted from doing God’s will?
  3. How can you know that God’s timing is always right?

APPLICATION:

Demonstrate patience as you live for Christ in anticipation of His return.
