Driven by Hope

Driven by Hope

READ: Philippians 3:20-21

Philippians 3:20-21 (KJV)
20  For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
21  Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

KEY THOUGHT:

It’s easy to get caught up in day-to-day circumstances and let the storms of life cause you to focus on the wrong things. When that happens, you tend to be anxious, impatient, discontent and, in many cases, downright miserable. To help prevent this from happening, follow the example of the apostle Paul, by remembering that you have a higher hope than this world – you have a heavenly hope. As a Christian, your life, though temporary in this world, is permanently placed in Heaven on the firm foundation of Jesus Christ. You have a hope found only in Him. Let that heavenly hope drive you to press on to the prize found in serving Him!

CONSIDER:

  1. Why do circumstances sometimes cause you to lose hope?
  2. Think of a situation that you recently felt was hopeless. How did God help you get through that situation?
  3. How can you share your heavenly hope with others?
  4. How does focusing on the prize found in Jesus help give you hope, even when circumstances seem “hopeless?”

APPLICATION:

Be driven by the hope of eternal life found in Jesus Christ!
