READ: Philippians 3:9-12
9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.
12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
KEY THOUGHT:
If you’re not careful, the things you desire can become your obsession. And your obsession can rule you. Your desires drive you to satisfy them and to apprehend even more, disguising their temporary pleasure for joy. The apprehension of things will never bring you joy or satisfaction. Only a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ brings you joy, satisfaction, and contentment. That’s why it’s important to apprehend and know Christ – to know “Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship with His sufferings.” When you truly know Christ, He will become your desire and your obsession. You will be driven to apprehend Him because He has apprehended you!
CONSIDER:
- What does it mean to apprehend something?
- Why is it dangerous to have worldly desires that turn into obsessions?
- What are some things that you can do to apprehend Christ?
- How has Jesus Christ apprehended you?
APPLICATION:
Apprehend the joy of Christ by allowing Him to apprehend you!
