READ: 1 John 2:1-2
1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
KEY THOUGHT:
Even though it’s inevitable that you sin, even after you’ve been saved, it’s important that you do your best to keep from sinning. The apostle John issues a brief instruction, “sin not.” But immediately, he follows that instruction with a remedy for sin. Why would he do that? Because although you should do your best not to sin, you will find yourself making wrong choices and committing sin. The remedy is still Jesus Christ – who was first your Savior and now is your Advocate. He redeemed you through salvation and reconciles you through His continual advocacy. He is and forever will be the propitiation or payment for your sins. When you were saved, you were redeemed by His blood, which is sufficient to cover all of your past sins, present sins, and any future sins. This is the grace of God manifested in His Son Jesus Christ.

- Why is it so difficult not to sin?
- How did Jesus pay for your sins?
- Why is it important to try to keep away from sin, even though God’s grace covers you?

Rejoice in the redemption and reconciliation that Jesus brings!
