READ: 1 Timothy 6:13-16
13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;
14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
KEY THOUGHT:
Staying true to Christ is the primary duty we all have. It involves many of the topics that I wrote about as we read and considered the truths found in the apostle Paul’s first letter to Timothy. In a personal way, it means living out your faith in a way that shines the light of Christ to others, without anything that would block His light. Paul puts it this way: “without spot, unrebukeable.” When you strive for godliness, you can be the kind of salt and light to the world that Jesus spoke of in Matthew 5:13-16. It’s your reasonable sacrifice and service to Jesus, considering that He is the premier Ruler or Potentate: the King of kings and the Lord of lords.
CONSIDER:
- What makes serving Jesus worthwhile to you?
- Why does Jesus deserve your sacrifice and service more than anything else?
- How does your love for Jesus impact your service to Him?
APPLICATION:
Stay true to Christ by making Him your top priority!
