Stay True to Commitment (1 Timothy 6:17-21)

READ: 1 Timothy 6:17-21

1 Timothy 6:17-21 (KJV)
17  Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
18  That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
19  Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
20  O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
21  Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.

KEY THOUGHT:

Staying true to commitment means that you are diligent and dedicated in your pursuit of your goals to serve Christ. This involves doing good to others by giving, going and doing, as well as by praying. While it’s easy to get caught up in the trappings of a culture that promotes ongoing debate and argument ongoing debate and arguments, it’s much more important for you to do the things that God has called you to do as a Christian.

Rather than wasting time on social media and party politics, find ways to fulfill the purpose of Christ by telling others about Him, sharing His love with them, and praying that God’s peace will be revealed to them through the gospel. Consider the words of the prophet Micah, “…and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” (Micah 6:8). If you are committed to doing those things, you will have a far greater impact on the world around you!

CONSIDER:

  1. What is your commitment to God?
  2. How can you remain committed to doing the work of a Christian?
  3. How much time do you spend on doing good for others as opposed to doing things that satisfy you?

APPLICATION:

Be committed to doing good for the glory of God!
