READ: 1 Timothy 5:24-25
24 Some men’s sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after.
25 Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.
KEY THOUGHT:
Staying true to good works means that you have a good reputation concerning your service to God. As a Christian, you can be known for your faithfulness, obedience, honesty, and service to God… or you could be known for laziness, compromise, and sinful activity. One way of the other, your works will become your reputation. As the apostle Paul wrote, some people’s sins are “open” while the good works of some are “manifest.” That means that some will be known for their sin and others will be known for their good works. Some have followed bad examples, and some have followed good examples. Which kind of person would you want to be? What kind of example are you?
CONSIDER:
- Why is your reputation as a Christian important?
- How does your reputation reflect on Jesus Christ?
- Is it possible for your example to sway someone to change their behavior? Why or why not?
APPLICATION:
Be an example of good works for the glory of God!
