READ: 1 Timothy 1:12-15
12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
13 Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
14 And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
KEY THOUGHT:
Staying true to grace means that you never forget where you were before you met the Savior. It causes you to grasp the reality of God’s love and allow His grace to grip you in a way you never imagined, understanding that there’s nothing you deserve more than death. Yet God, by way of grace, gives you eternal life. The apostle Paul’s humility and his sensitivity to God’s grace – His unmerited favor to Paul – is clearly demonstrated as he calls to remembrance the manner of life he led before meeting Christ, a reminder of he is not deserving of the gift that God gave him through Christ. When you think about what God has given to you even though you don’t deserve it, you can’t help but acknowledge grace and how truly amazing it is!
CONSIDER:
- How would you describe your life before you met Jesus Christ?
- How can you explain God’s love for you and His forgiveness?
- Why is it important for you to stay humble and remember what God saved you from?
- If you were to tell someone else about God’s grace, what would you say?
APPLICATION:
Grab hold of grace and let it grab hold of you!
