1 Timothy 1:18-20 (KJV)
18 This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;
19 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:
20 Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.

KEY THOUGHT:
Being true to the faith means that you trust God and depend on Him and His strength to live every moment of every day. Taking things in your own hands is a dangerous deed that, in the apostle Paul’s words, can shipwreck your life. Paul calls out and admonishes two church members who weren’t true to the faith. While it might be easy to say that you are faithful, the truth lies in how you demonstrate your faith. In fact, another apostle, James, wrote that if faith is not demonstrated, then it is dead. Faith is more than a word; it’s a way of living!
CONSIDER:
- How can you consistently demonstrate your faith?
- What are some reasons that a person might stray from the faith?
- How can you stay strong in the faith so that you can “war a good warfare” as Paul instructed?
APPLICATION:
Let your life be a walk of faith and not of sight so that others see the truth of Christ in you.
