The Call to Action (1 Thessalonians 5:12-15)

READ: 1 Thessalonians 5:12-15

1 Thessalonians 5:12-15 (KJV)
12  And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
13  And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
14  Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
15  See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.

KEY THOUGHT:

Although the timing of Christ’s return is not known, it gets nearer and nearer as each day passes. As the day of His return approaches, the way you act is important. Your action or your inaction impacts your own preparedness and affects how those who don’t know Christ as Savior respond to the gospel. With that in mind, it’s important for you to respond to God’s call to action: to respectfully respond to leadership, to live peaceably, to warn those who create trouble in the faith, to help the needy, and to patiently do good to everyone you encounter. While it’s easy to sit and wait for Christ’s return, God calls you to action. Let the world see you in action!

CONSIDER:

  1. What are some ways that God calls you to action in the church?
  2. How does your action or inaction validate your gospel testimony?
  3. How does obedience relate to your action or inaction as a Christian?

APPLICATION:

Demonstrate your obedience and faithfulness by answering God’s call to action.
