READ: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-22
16 Rejoice evermore.
17 Pray without ceasing.
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
19 Quench not the Spirit.
20 Despise not prophesyings.
21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
KEY THOUGHT:
You have a responsibility as a Christian to live like Christ. The apostle Paul provides key actions that should be demonstrated as you live like Christ: Rejoicing even when it isn’t easy; praying even when it’s not convenient; being thankful even when things don’t go your way; responding to the Holy Spirit and to the preaching of God’s Word even when you don’t understand it; and finally, doing good and avoiding evil even when compromising may seem more beneficial. When you consider all that Christ did for you through His sacrifice on the cross, living as His representative to the world is a reasonable living sacrifice for you!
CONSIDER:
- Where can you learn how to be Christ-like?
- How is being Christ-like an indication of your relationship with Jesus Christ?
- Would you consider your testimony as a Christian to be genuinely Christ-like? Why or why not?
APPLICATION:
Demonstrate your faith through Christ-like living.
