The Missing Piece

The Missing Piece

READ: Ephesians 2:18-22

Ephesians 2:18-22 (KJV)
18  For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
19  Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
20  And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
21  In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
22  In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

KEY THOUGHT:

Completing a jigsaw puzzle can be a rewarding experience. Fitting all of the randomly cut pieces together just right produces a picture that can’t be seen when all of the pieces are apart. But, it can be frustrating if any of the pieces are missing. God loves you and He wants you to be a piece of the big picture of His family. Through salvation, you become a member of God’s family and are part of the household of God. Just as every piece of the jigsaw puzzle is needed to complete a picture, every part of the household of God is needed to fulfill God’s purpose. Paul describes the way we fit together into God’s plan as a building that is rightly built around Jesus Christ.

Sometimes you might feel like you don’t fit in, but maybe that’s just because you haven’t tried. Finding God’s perfect will for you in the church can be like fitting a puzzle together. Find the right spot that completes the puzzle. You just might be the missing piece that’s needed to see God’s completed picture! Do you realize that when you miss church, youth group activities,  and other church functions, the family picture isn’t complete and the building is not quite right? You are an important part of what God has going on in His church! So be a part of the family!

CONSIDER:

  1. What does a person have to do to become part of the household of God?
  2. What are some things that make a family “feel like” a family? How does this apply to the family of God, especially to your church or youth group?
  3. How would you feel if someone in your family ran away from home? How different is that from a friend deciding that being part of your church or youth group isn’t worth it anymore?

APPLICATION:

Fulfill your purpose as part of the family of God!
