Walk in the Light

Walk in the Light

READ: Ephesians 5:8-12

Ephesians 5:8-12 (KJV)
8  For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
9  (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
10  Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
11  And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
12  For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

KEY THOUGHT:

Have you ever entered a darkened room and searched along the wall for a light switch? How did you feel as you searched for the switch in darkness? You probably had an oppressive fear that you would run into something, trip and fall, or even worse… When you finally find the switch and the light comes on, that feeling disappears and all is well and good. All of the secret fears of darkness are visible in the light. God offers the light of Jesus Christ to bring you out of darkness and out of fear. In His light is goodness and acceptance.

CONSIDER:

  1. What does it mean to you when the Bible says that you sometimes were in darkness?
  2. What is the danger of walking in darkness without the light of Jesus Christ?
  3. Why do you think that sinful behavior is associated with darkness?

APPLICATION:

Live without fear by walking in the light of Jesus Christ.
