John Fischer’s first album was released in 1969 at the advent of a new wave of Christian music striving to bring the message of the gospel to the rapidly changing youth culture of the day. His first album, The Cold Cathedral, is considered by many to be the first contemporary Christian music album released in the United States. It’s release followed a new movement in Great Britain to bring Christian music to the masses using folk and the new, highly popular “beat” music that was flooding the secular airwaves.
In 1982, I was introduced to John Fischer’s music when his Dark Horse album was released. The radio play from the album focused on the title track, which still stands as one of Fischer’s most memorable songs. However, my favorite from the album is “Leavin’ It All To You,” a very personal song of testimony relaying the message of our dependency of Christ for everything we need.
The song starts with a surrender and a testimony of truth that lingers long after the song ends…
Taken from the original vinyl release of Dark Horse, “Leavin’ It All To You” is the last track on the album. Published in 1982 on Myrrh Records (MSB6713).
